Abstract

Autizam je pervazivni razvojni poremećaj koji se javlja u djetinjstvu, najčešće do treće godine života djeteta te zahvaća gotovo sve psihičke funkcije. Nakon što smo definirali pojam, u ovom radu ćemo se upoznati s povijesnim razvojem poremećaja te ćemo definirati njegove kriterije. S obzirom da je autizam složen poremećaj koji karakterizira određena klinička slika, vidjeti ćemo kako postoje slučajevi gdje su simptomi slični kao kod autizma, ali dijagnoza nije autizam. Tada je riječ o poremećajima iz spektra autizma. Prema tome može se zaključiti kako je postavljanje dijagnoze složen proces, pri kojem mu pomažu određeni dijagnostički kriterij, multidisciplinarni tim te primjena mjernih instrumenata. Nakon što se postavi dijagnoza, fokus se prebacuje na pronalazak primjerene terapije koja će omogućiti uključenost osobe s autizmom u svakodnevne aktivnosti te poticati razvoj njegovih sposobnosti i vještina. Upravo je cilj ovo rada prikazati autizam kroz njegove posebnosti, a ne samo negativne i ometajuće simptome. Na osobe s autizmom se ne smije gledati kroz njihov invaliditet i dijagnozu, već kao ravnopravne članove društva kojima treba pružiti podršku i priliku kako bi mogli svakodnevno funkcionirati.

Abstract (english)

Autism is a pervasive developmental disorder that appears in childhood, usually up to the third year of a child's life and affects almost all psychological functions. After we have defined the term, in this paper we will familiarize ourselves with the historical development of the disorder and we will define its criteria. Given that autism is a complex disorder characterized by a certain clinical picture, we will see how there are cases where the symptoms are like those in autism, but the diagnosis is not autism itself. Then we are talking about disorders from the autism spectrum. Therefore, it can be concluded that establishing a diagnosis is a complex process, which is assisted by certain diagnostic criteria, a multidisciplinary team, and the application of measuring instruments. After the diagnosis is made, the focus shifts to finding an appropriate therapy that will enable the inclusion of a person with autism in everyday activities and encourage the development of his abilities and skills. The aim of this paper is to show autism through its peculiarities, not just negative and disturbing symptoms. People with autism should not be seen through their disability and diagnosis, but as equal members of society who should be provided with support and opportunities so that they can function in their daily life.
