emocionalna regulacija strategije emocionalne samoregulacije sukobi između roditelja konstruktivni sukobi model individualne konfliktne kompetentnosti Research has demonstrated that destructive conflicts between parents are associated with negative developmental outcomes in children (e.g. Warmuth et al. 2020 Low et al. 2019 Cummings et al. 2002). Consequently preventing such conflicts or transforming them into constructive ones is a common objective among professionals working with families. In line with this goal this review paper presents contemporary research on emotion self-regulation and examines its contribution to the achievement of constructive interparental conflict. Drawing on the transactional theory of stress and coping (Lazarus & Folkman 1987) and the empirically validated classification of coping proposed by Skinner et al. (2003) emotion regulation is conceptualized as a form of coping with stressors. Emotion regulation is also discussed within the broader field of emotion research using Gross's process model of emotion regulation (Gross 2008) as the primary theoretical framework. Building upon this model and focusing on self-regulation the paper describes various emotion self-regulation strategies and classifies them according to the meta-analysis conducted by Naragon-Gainey et al. (2017). Theoretical insights into emotion self-regulation derived from the fields of stress and coping as well as emotion generation and regulation are subsequently applied to the context of interparental conflict referring to conflicts occurring between parents regardless of their content. The paper examines the contribution of parents' individual characteristics emotions emotion self-regulation strategies and the instrumental motives underlying emotion self-regulation to the use of cooperative behavioural strategies aimed at achieving constructive conflict. Furthermore the paper explores the potential for transforming destructive interparental conflicts into constructive ones based on the model of individual conflict competence (Runde & Flanagan 2010) and provides recommendations for the application of this model by professionals conducting counselling and family mediation.
