Abstract

Samački život i gubitak bračnog druga stresni su događaji u životu svakog pojedinca, a tome su češće izložene osobe starije životne dobi. Gubitak bliske osobe sa sobom nosi brojne prepreke poput financijske nesigurnosti, psihičkih poteškoća, povlačenja u sebe i smanjenja socijalnih odnosa. Kako bi se starije osobe lakše nosile s gubitkom bliske osobe, potrebno je prepoznati faktore koji utječu na bolju i lakšu prilagodbu na samački život. Kao takvi, ističu se fizičko i mentalno zdravlje, dobri socijalni odnosi, duhovnost, materijalne prilike pojedinca te načini provođenja slobodnog vremena i dnevnih aktivnosti. Također, postoje razlike u prilagodbi na samački život između muškaraca i žena. U svemu navedenom od iznimne je važnosti uloga socijalnih radnika i drugih stručnjaka kojima je zadaća olakšati osobama starije životne dobi prilagodbu na samački život.

Abstract (english)

In the life of every person, a single life and the loss of a spouse are stressful situations and usually more exposed to that are people of older age. The loss of a close person carries with it many disadvantages such as financial volatility, mental distress, social withdrawal and many others. To ensure for the older people to deal more easily with the loss it is necessary to recognize the factors which impact better and easier adjustment to single life. As such, physical and mental health stand out, but so do good social relations, spirituality, financial status and ways of spending free time and daily activities. In addition, there are differences in adjustment to a single life between men and women. In all of the above, the role of social workers and other experts whose task is to mitigate the adjustment of a single life for the people of older age is of great importance.
