Abstract

Rad prikazuje ulogu različitih faktora u predviđanju stupnja obrazovanja mladih osoba. Dosadašnja istraživanja su pokazala da mladi koji dolaze iz siromašnijih i kulturno depriveligiranih obitelji postižu niži stupanj obrazovanja. Također, pokazana je i važnost socijalne podrške za vrijeme školovanja koja doprinosi boljem uspjehu i napretku u školi. Na temelju prethodnih spoznaja, cilj ovog istraživanja bio je istražiti u kojoj mjeri socijalna podrška, kulturni kapital, socioekonomski status te školsko postignuće predviđaju obrazovne ishode mladih osoba. Istraživanje je provedeno na uzorku od 175 mladih osoba u dobi od 19 do 30 godina u Republici Hrvatskoj. Rezultati su prikazali da viši stupanj obrazovanja postižu oni mladi koji materijalne prilike obitelji procjenjuju boljima, žive u kućanstvu s manjim brojem članova te postižu bolji uspjeh u srednjoj školi.

Abstract (english)

This paper reviews the role of various factors in predicting young people’s education level. Previous studies have shown that young people who come from poorer and culturally disadvantaged families achieve lower educational level. The studies have, also, shown the importance of social support for young people during their education process which contributes to a better success and progress in school. Based on previous findings, main purpose of this research was to examine how social support, cultural capital, socioeconomic status and school achievment predict educational outcomes of young people. The research was conducted on a sample of 175 young people aged 19 to 30 in Republic of Croatia. Results are shown that young people with higher educational status perceive their family financial status as better, live in smaller households and have better high school success.
