Abstract

Rizik je postao bitnim obilježjem suvremenog društva. Poslovati na tržištu danas znači biti izložen mnogobrojnim poslovnim rizicima. Te rizike moguće je nadzirati i njima upravljati putem risk management-a, kao posebne poslovne funkcije koja ima zadatak: identificirati, ocjenjivati, upravljati, kontrolirati rizike poslovanja, te ih svoditi s jedne ekonomski neprihvatljive razine na onu prihvatljiviju. Osiguranje, odnosno suosiguranje i reosiguranje (u slučaju kada je subjekt risk management-a sam osiguratelj) pokazali su se kao ključne tehnike upravljanja rizicima. Društva za osiguranje danas u mnogo slučajeva moraju preuzimati u osiguranje određene rizike koji po veličini prelaze njihov kapacitet, rizike kod kojih postoji mogućnost nastupa masovnih šteta, akumulacije šteta, i katastrofalnih šteta koje ne mogu samostalno pokriti. U tim slučajevima ona se moraju pobrinuti da putem suosiguranja ili reosiguranja povećaju svoje ukupne kapacitete preuzimanja rizika u osiguranje.
Ovaj rad analizira obilježja, svrhu, oblike, pravno uređenje i gospodarsko značenje instituta suosiguranja i reosiguranja. Glavni dio ovog rada posvećen je institutu reosiguranja kao najvažnijem obliku transfera rizika, zbog njegove iznimne važnosti u smanjenju poremećaja u gospodarstvu i na tržištu osiguranja.

Abstract (english)

Risk has become a significant characteristic of modern society. Doing business in today's market brings exposure to many risks. For that reason, the function of risk management is crucial. Risk management is the business function that has the task: of identifying, assessing, managing, controlling business risks, and reducing them from an economically unacceptable level to a more acceptable one. Insurance, respectively coinsurance, and reinsurance (in cases when the subject of risk management is the insurer itself) have proven to be key risk management techniques. Often, insurance companies have to take on certain risks that exceed their capacity, risks where there is a possibility of mass claims, accumulation of claims, and catastrophic claims that they can not compensate independently. In these cases, they must ensure that they increase their overall risk-taking capacity through coinsurance or/and reinsurance.
This paper analyzes the characteristics, purpose, forms, legal regulation, and economic significance of coinsurance and reinsurance institutes. Most of this paper focuses on the institute of reinsurance, as the most important form of risk transfer, due to its importance in reducing disturbances in the economy and the insurance market.
