Abstract

U posljednjih nekoliko desetljeća raste broj samohranih roditelja po izboru. Iako je riječ o novijem fenomenu, javlja se potreba za istraživanjem ovog obiteljskog oblika, budući da postaje sve brojniji i prisutniji. Glavni cilj ovoga rada je prikazati do sada prikupljene spoznaje u pogledu izazova s kojima se samohrani roditelji po izboru suočavaju na putu ostvarenja svog roditeljstva. U literaturi se najčešće kao način ostvarenja samohranog roditeljstva po izboru navodi umjetna oplodnja uz pomoć donora, posvojenje i surogat majčinstvo. Također, navode se i zabrinutosti roditelja koje mogu nastupiti uslijed nepoznavanja većeg broja braće i sestara istog donora, a tiču se eugenike. Neki autori problematiziraju etičke dileme koje mogu nastupiti ako je način postizanja samohranog roditeljstva po izboru uz pomoć surogat majčinstva. Stoga je važna aktivna uloga države u razvoju politika za učinkovitije suočavanje s izazovima koji mogu proizići iz ove relativno nove obiteljske strukture.

Abstract (english)

In the last few decades, the number of single parents of choice has been growing. Although this is a newer phenomenon, there is a need to explore this family form as it becomes more numerous and present. The main goal of this paper is to present the knowledge gained so far regarding the challenges that single parents of their choice face on the path to achieving their parenthood. In the literature, artificial insemination with the help of donors, adoption and surrogacy are most often cited as a way of achieving single parenthood. Also, the concerns of parents that may arise due to the ignorance of a many of brothers and sisters from the same donor are mentioned, and they concern eugenics. Some authors problematize the ethical dilemmas that can arise if the way to achieve single parenting is optional with the help of surrogacy. Therefore, the active role of the state in policy development is important to more effectively address the challenges that may arise from this relatively new family structure.
