Abstract

Uloga roditelja je zahtjevna, ali još je zahtjevnija kad u obitelj dođe dijete s teškoćama u
razvoju. U toj situaciji roditelji se suočavaju s nekim izazovima s kojima se roditelji djece
tipičnog razvoja neće suočiti. Roditeljski stres, iako je pristuan kod svakog roditelja, povećan
je kod roditelja koji imaju dijete s teškoćama u razvoju. Postoje razni načini suočavanja sa
stresom, a prema jednom istraživanju, na prvom mjestu je mobiliziranje resursa obitelji i
aktivno suočavanje. Povećani angažman roditelja u svakodnevnom životu djeteta je jedan od
izazova s kojima se roditelji djece s teškoćama u razvoju suočavaju. Više vremena provode u
svakodnevnim aktivnostima, te odvajaju vrijeme za dodatne edukacije. Od roditelja se također
očekuje višestruka uloga u uključivanju djeteta u odgojno – obrazovne ustanove. Kvalitetu
života roditelji djece s teškočama u razvoju samo su u pojedinim aspektima procijenili lošijom
nego roditelji djece tipičnog razvoja. Očekivano je da roditelji potraže podršku u svojoj
okolini, te smo stoga izvore podrške podijelili na formalne i neformalne.

Abstract (english)

The role of a parent is demanding, but it is even more demanding when a child with disability
enters the family. In that situation parents face some challenges that parents with children of
typical development do not face. Parental stress, although always in existence, increases with
child with disabilities’ parents. There are various ways of coping with stress, and due to one
research, in the first place is mobilizing family resources and active coping. Increased
parental involvement in everyday life of a child is one of the challenges that parents of
children with disabilities face. They spend more time in everyday activities and spare some
time for additional education. Parents are as well expected to have multiple role in
engagement of their child into the educational institutions. The quality of life of parents with
children with disabilities has been proclaimed to only be lower in specific aspects as opposed
to parents with typically developed children. It is expected that parents seek for support in
their environment. That being said, we have divided the support sources to formal and
informal.
