Obrazovanje započinje još u predškolskoj fazi kad djeca uče kako funkcionirati u okružju druge djece, vještine poput crtanja, pitanja, ali i ono najvažnije – jezične vještine.
Abstract (english) The main purpose of this work is to investigate the problems and challenges faced by Roma children during their education. Problems that hinder their equal and normal education compared to other children in the educational system. The Roma represent a subordinate group that is daily faced with discrimination and non-acceptance in society. The problem of Roma is recognized throughout Europe, and various directives and resolutions are adopted to solve it. The Roma problem in Croatia was recognized at the beginning of 2000 with the adoption of the National Program for Roma Inclusion, later the National Strategy for Roma Inclusion and the National Plan for Roma Inclusion. These documents determine the measures and activities to be implemented in order to improve the position of the Roma not only in the field of education, but also in the field of social welfare, health care and employment. We can say that education is very important for developing our cognitive abilities and intellectual development. Education begins in preschool age when children learn how to function in the environment of other children, such as drawing skills, questions, but also the most important one - language skills. It is the insufficient knowledge of the Croatian language that is the main obstacle for Roma children in mastering the classes in primary school. By co-financing kindergartens and dedicated transport to kindergartens, but also to schools, introducing Roma helpers in schools, extended stay, additional training of teachers and professional associates, providing high school scholarships, promoting three-year schools related to agriculture, construction, nutrition, and providing one-time assistance to children who bring their secondary school education ends - some of the measures that are implemented to highlight the importance of education, to encourage as many of them as possible to attend and crucially - to reduce the percentage of children who drop out of school and to reduce the percentage of them who cannot be employed. Through research going back about 15 years, we conclude that the number of Roma children in school is growing, but that this number could be much higher.
