Abstract

Sažetak: Iako se roditeljstvo doima više kao umjetnička forma nego znanost, općenito je zapaženo da igra ključnu ulogu u oblikovanju ponašanja pri korištenju psihoaktivnih tvari kod djece i mladih. Stilovi roditeljstva različito su povezani s razvojem ovisnosti o drogama, kockanju, internetu i alkoholu. Istraživanja pokazuju da autoritativni stil najviše štiti kod razvoja ovisnosti, a zanemarujući stil predstavlja rizik za razvoj ovisnosti. Autoritarni i permisivni stil povezani su s većom uporabom droga. S većom uporabom kanabisa povezani su permisivnost roditelja, neprijateljstvo prema djetetu i kažnjavanje djeteta. Višu razinu kockanja prati roditeljska permisivnost. Djeca s jasnom roditeljskom kontrolom primjetno manje iskazuju rizično ponašanja na internetu, dok podrška roditelja vodi sigurnijoj upotrebi interneta. Adolescenti s autoritativnim roditeljima rjeđe će piti nego adolescenti s popustljivim ili zanemarujućim roditeljima. Roditeljski stil jedan je od čimbenika koji bi trebao biti važan dio budućih programa pomoći roditeljima, minimizirajući rizik problematičnog ponašanja njihove djece.

Abstract (english)

Although parenting appears to be more of an art form than science, it has generally been observed that it plays a key role in shaping behavior in the use of psychoactive substances in children and young people. Parenting styles are differently associated with the development of substance use, gambling, the internet, and alcohol. Research shows that authoritarian style is the most protective in the development of addiction, while neglectful style presents a danger to the development of addiction. Authoritarian and permissive styles are associated with higher drug use. High levels of cannabis use are connected with parental permissiveness, hostility towards the child, and punishment of the child. Higher levels of gambling are accompanied by parental permissiveness. Children with clear parental control are less likely to show risky behavior on the internet, while parental support leads to safe use of the internet. Adolescents with authoritative parents will drink less often than adolescents with compliant or neglectful parents. Parenting style is one of the factors that should be considered an important part of future programs to help parents, minimizing the risk of their children’s problematic behavior.
