Abstract

U vrijeme sveprisutnog demografskog trenda starenja stanovništva, i izazova koje taj trend sa sobom donosi, pitanje društvenog položaja starijih osoba postaje iznimno važno. Društveni položaj starijih predstavlja temu velikog broja rasprava s teoloških, filozofskih, socioloških, ekonomskih i pravnih stajališta. Društveni položaj starijih osoba se tijekom povijesti znatno mijenjao te je cilj ovog rada prikazati tijek i moguće uzroke tih promjena, ali i objasniti kakav je položaj starijih osoba u današnjem suvremenom društvu. Starije osobe su danas nerijetko na marginama društva te se uz njih vežu različiti stereotipi i predrasude koje dovode do dobne diskriminacije i ageizma. Osim analize trenutnog položaja starijih osoba u društvu, cilj ovoga rada je ukazati na resurse koje posjeduju starije osobe te analizirati kako iskoristiti potencijalne resurse i unaprijediti položaj starije populacije u društvu.

Abstract (english)

At a time of the ubiquitous demographic trend of an aging population, and the challenges that this trend brings with it, the issue of the social position of the elderly is becoming extremely important. The social position of the elderly is the subject of a large number of discussions from theological, philosophical, sociological, economic and legal points of view. The social position of the elderly has changed significantly throughout history, and the aim of this paper is to show the course and possible causes of these changes, but also to explain the position of the elderly in today's modern society. Older people today are often on the margins of society and they are associated with various stereotypes and prejudices that lead to age discrimination and ageism. In addition to the analysis of the current position of the elderly in society, the aim of this paper is to point out the resources possessed by the elderly and to analyze how to use potential resources and improve the position of the elderly population in society.
