Abstract

Ovaj rad pregled je rezultata i zaključaka različitih istraživanja u području siromaštva. Cilj rada je dovesti u odnos životne šanse i siromaštvo. U tu svrhu životne šanse osoba koje odrastaju u siromaštvu stavljaju se u kontekst posljedica i percepcije siromaštva s naglaskom na povezanost siromaštva s neobrazovanošću i nezaposlenošću. Prikazana istraživanja potvrđuju spomenutu povezanost te ključnu ulogu u borbi protiv siromaštva i u poboljšanju životnih šansi prepoznaju upravo u usmjerenosti socijalne politike na povećanje obrazovanosti i zapošljivosti osoba izloženih siromaštvu.

Abstract (english)

This paper is an overview of the results and conclusions of several studies in the field of poverty. The goal of this paper is to bring into relation life chances and poverty. Therefore, the life chances of persons growing up in poverty are placed in the context of the consequences and the perception of poverty, with emphasis on the connection between poverty on the one hand and unemployment and low levels of education on the other. Different studies shown in this paper confirm the aforementioned connection and recognize the focus of social policies on increasing education and employability of persons afflicted by poverty as having the key role in improving life chances and fighting poverty.
