Abstract

Tjelesno kažnjavanje je u mnogim kulturama tradicionalna odgojna metoda djece. Tijekom godina utvrđene su mnoge štetne posljedice koje tjelesno kažnjavanje ima na dijete. U Hrvatskoj je i dalje prisutan pozitivan stav prema tjelesnom kažnjavanju djece iako postoji zakonska zabrana i poznate su štetne posljedice za dijete. Ovo istraživanje je ispitivalo kakve stavove o tjelesnom kažnjavanju imaju studenti Sveučilišta u Zagrebu. Studenti su iskazivali više negativne stavove prema tjelesnom kažnjavanju djece te također iskazuju rijetko doživljavanje tjelesnog kažnjavanja u djetinjstvu- U istraživanju su se utvrđivale razlike i povezanosti u stavovima s obzirom na neka osobna obilježja sudionika (spol, mjesto življenja, veličina obitelji, vrsta studija, zadovoljstvo odgojem) gdje su statistički značajne razlike i povezanosti pokazane samo u nekim obilježjima (spol, vrsta studija i zadovoljstvo odgojem). Istraživanje je također ispitivalo povezanost iskustva doživljenog tjelesnog kažnjavanja i stava o tjelesnom kažnjavanju djece gdje je utvrđeno kako studenti koji su češće doživljavali tjelesno kažnjavanje imaju više pozitivne stavove prema njemu. U ovu problematiku je uveden i pojam opravdavanja takvog postupanja koji je pokazao da ima značajnu ulogu u oblikovanju stava o tjelesnom kažnjavanju. Posljednja problematika kojom se bavilo ovo istraživanje je educiranost studenata o tjelesnom kažnjavanju djece. Rezultati pokazuju kako edukacija studenata na ovaj način nije polučila razlikama u njihovim stavovima, ali i da postoji velik broj studenata koji nije upoznat sa zakonskom zabranom tjelesnog kažnjavanja djece.

Abstract (english)

Corporal punishment is a traditional method of upbringing in many cultures. Over the years, many of the damaging consequences of corporal punishment have been identified on the child. In Croatia, there is still a positive attitude towards corporal punishment of children, although there is a legal ban and there are known damaging consequences for the child. This research explored what kind of attitudes toward corporal punishment have students of the University of Zagreb. The students showed more negative attitudes towards corporal punishment of children and also show a rare experience of corporal punishment in childhood. The research identified differences and attitudes in relation to some personal characteristics of the participant (gender, place of residence, family size, type of study, contentment of upbringing) where statistically significant differences and correlations are shown only in some characteristics (gender, type of study, and contentment of upbringing). The research also identified the correlation between the experience of corporal punishment and the attitude of corporal punishment of children where it was found that students who more frequently experienced bodily punishment had more positive attitudes toward it. The issue of justifying such behavior has also been introduced in this issue, which has proved to play a significant role in shaping the attitude of corporal punishment. The last issue of this research is the education of students about corporal punishment of children. The results show that the education of students in this way did not differ in their attitudes, but also that there are a large number of students who are not familiar with the statutory ban on corporal punishment of children.
