Abstract

Osobe s intelektualnim teškoćama imaju potrebu za ljubavlju, seksualnošću i intimnošću, koja su ujedno i jedna su od temeljnih ljudskih prava. U povijesti je postojao negativan stav prema njihovoj seksualnosti i reprodukciji što je vidljivo iz prisilnog podvrgavanja sterilizaciji. Danas, iako se na razne načine pokušava smanjiti stigma, pitanje njihovih seksualnih prava i kompetentnosti za roditeljstvo i dalje je upitno u društvu, a njihove potrebe često zanemarane. Stoga, cilj ovog rada je prikazati kratak pregled seksualnosti i roditeljstva osoba s intelektualnim teškoćama. Prvi dio se odnosi na razvoj seksualnih prava osoba s intelektualnim teškoćama kroz povijest i neke značajke seksualnosti kod ove populacije kao što su spolni razvoj, seksualno ponašanje i svijest o vlastitoj seksualnost. Nakon toga se nadovezuje tema seksualnog nasilja među ovom populacijom o kojoj se sve više raspravlja. U drugom dijelu rada osvrnut ćemo se na roditeljstvo osoba s intelektualnim teškoćama kroz trudnoću majki i kompetentnost roditelja za ovu ulogu. Na kraju, prikazat ćemo trenutno stanje u Hrvatskoj.

Abstract (english)

People with intellectual disabilities have the need for love, sexuality and intimacy, which are at the same time one of the fundamental human rights. In history, there was a negative attitude towards their sexuality and reproduction, which is evident from forced compulsory sterilization. Today, although in various ways they are trying to reduce stigma, the issue of their sexual rights and competences for parenting is still questionable in society and their needs are often neglected. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to present a brief overview of the sexuality and parenting of persons with intellectual disabilities. First part of this paper refers to the development of sexual rights of persons with intellectual disabilities through history and some features of sexuality in this population such as sexual development, sexual behavior, and awareness of their own sexuality. After that, we will present the topic of sexual violence among this population. In the second part we will discuss parenting of persons with intellectual disabilities through maternal pregnancy and the competence of parents for this role. Finally, we will show the current situation in Croatia.
